Prerelease Support Ending Soon!
Hello everyone! We hope you have been enjoying the new year.
When the official rules release happened, it was quite sudden to everyone. In order to accommodate the people still running campaigns with the pre-release campaign rules we implemented support for both rule sets. It took some wrangling but it got done! However, it was always meant to be a bandage solution for a short time.
While originally we intended for pre-release support to end 6 months after the full game rules released, we are in the midst of rapid improvements to the quality and accuracy of the Trench Companion. As a part of this, we have had to make the decision to end prerelease support at the end of this February. We’d of loved to keep these rules up forever, but validating and enforcing two sets of rules, even when users can opt out, it beyond scope and limits our ability to improve the main product, which the vast majority of you are using.
To this end, at the end of February, prerelease rules will no longer be available and all prerelease warbands will be automatically converted to the current rule set. We do apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to those who do still use those rules.
But of course, this means improvements! With our major features complete we will be putting an increased focus in accuracy and completeness, especially with the statement from Fortress Factory that we will only receive two major rules drops a year. As a part of these improvements we have three major features left for you all planned (though that is certainly not the end)
- The Post Game Helper will help step you through the process of progressing your warband through a campaign; note deaths and injuries, distribute experience and skills, and gather up your ducats and glory.
- Play Mode will let you track the current state of your warband in the middle of a battle. Blood markers, who’s been sent out of action, scenario objectives, and if you’ve already used up the Wind Amulet on Lion #2 yet.
- Finally Homebrew Support will be included! Alongside documentation on our unique data structure, we will allow users to upload their own rules data to create custom warbands and share these rules with others in the community effortlessly.
