As a younger man, Father Johannes had a prosperous career away from the Frontlines, serving the Church in New Antioch. Feeling though, that it was his holy duty to help shepherd as many people as possible into the Kingdom of Heaven, he sought out ways to help even the most desperate of sinners find their way back to the grace of God.

This quest, inevitably, led him to No Man's Land, and found him advising many sinners who were on their way to join the Trench Pilgrims in search of penitence. Touched by their plight, one day Johannes resolved to join these poor souls in the trenches, that he may protect and guide his flock.

Adorned in icons of Jude the Apostle, the patron saint of the hopeless and despaired, Johannes took well to the trials of battle, stalwart in his belief that The Lord will not allow his mission to fail.

You can only buy two pieces of equipment made for Shrine Anchorites. Each Anchorite is equipped with a special suit of armour (reflected in the profile), a Combat Helmet, and a Bonebreaker Mace. These pieces of equipment are built into the integrity of its construction and cannot be removed or lost in any way. The shrine is also equipped with a Catherine Wheel, which you may swap out for another of its special Anchorite Weapons. The Anchorite may make one attack ACTION with each of these weapons and may make no other attacks during its Activation (so if holding the Catherine Wheel it attack in melee with the Wheel and its Mace, at range it can attack with its sole ranged weapon if equipped).

Once a great fighter in the ranks of New Antioch, Kalidron was one day defeated in battle, and captured by the Heretic Legions. Already grievously wounded, the poor soul was kept alive by the Legion, tortured, his body forcibly tattooed with unholy scripture, and forced to serve on the frontlines as a wretched, his anguish fuel for the black magics of the demonic hordes.

One day however, some months later, the legion forces to which Kalidron was indentured were defeated by servants of the church, and their human captives taken back into His grace.

Kalidron, wishing only for relief, was instead of being set free, found by an ecclesiastic inquisition to have committed the sin of blasphemy, owing to the demonic runes upon his skin. Taking pity on Kalidron, as the runes were not of his own making, and in honour of his great service to New Antioch, the Inquisitors commuted his death sentence, instead sentencing him to penance, by way of entombment in an Anchorite Shrine.

His skin flayed, his muscles and organs enmeshed irreversibly with the divine machinery of the shrine, Kalidron once again takes up arms against the servants of hell, his hulking machine body, decorated with icons recounting his glorious feats in battle, stomps mercilessly through the blood soaked mud of No Man's Land, seeking revenge, absolution, and freedom.
