The shores of Târgoviște are not alien to conflict. Same as all shores the predatory forces of the Heretic Legions pirate the coasts in search of pillaging and slaughter to whet their appetites and feed the war-hosts with the labours of fresh slaves. Being so close to the Ruins of Byzantium has left the lands in a constant risk and fear of invasion. Perhaps, for now, that fear has finally been realised. After eons of search, private scholars through the Papal’s funding have discovered an ancient relic: The jawbone of Sabbas the Goth himself. It is said that those who would possess the saint’s relic would be granted the extraordinary ability to foresee victories and defeats before they had even waged their wars and thus choose battles where they saw fit. Evidence of this to be true or not has been replaced with the simple chance to take it, and faith. Since this discovery, Hell’s forces have barraged and invaded Târgoviște’s shores, seeking a chance to collect and damn the relic for their own uses. Time has ripped the land asunder, scorching the grasses from the incinerations of both ordnance and Hell’s inferno. The edges of the kingdom have not become but an expanded part of the millennia long war. Whilst neither side of Hell or the Christian defenders can bolster an edge, the relic has been lost in the gaping labyrinth of No Man’s Land. You are a small warband taking advantage of the chaos. Hired, summoned or sired by patrons, whether holy, damned, or simply opportunists, you have been sent into the realm of destruction to seek this relic amongst the prying eyes of the war. In your journey your forces will see toll and glory and must return with the relic in hand to your praising lord, or whatever left of your warband, to return in failures to that of a wrathful one. Praise your gods and prepare for war.
Show moreEvery rotation there will be a 5th player out. They may choose two things for the week; sit out the game or participate in a Dummy Game. If you sit out the game, your Warband has a peaceful relatively uneventful day. You may roll for Exploration, but Promotions and XP will not apply. If you choose to play a Dummy Game, then you may agree a game against anybody you wish; a participating player or someone not in the campaign at all. They will choose and make any Warband or Faction they wish to play whilst you must play your Campaign Warband. You and your opponent may agree to fight under one of these conditions: - Skirmish assault: A section of your warband has been locked in a skirmish with scavengers and opportunists that travel No Man’s Land. This is a 700-ducat 0 glory point game using Campaign Phase 1 scenarios. You may roll for this scenario or do Claiming No Man’s Land. Skills & Traumas are not applied for this game. This is preferable if you wish to challenge someone not in the campaign who has not played Trench Crusade. If you and your opponent agree, you may instead have a game with 800 ducats and 6 glory points worth. This is for returning one-off players that wish to spice it up a bit, or for participating players who wish to try a different warband. - Major assault: Be it through opportunity or error your warband has engaged with one of the major factions of the war that our forces have actively been avoiding. You and your opponent agree to do a game at the equivalent of your current Warband Threshold. You may choose to apply Skills & Traumas. If they are applied, then the opponent gets 4 XP and 1 Glory Point for each game you have participated in to put into their dummy warband. You roll for the scenario as per usual in the Campaign. Remember, you do not have to do dummy challenges if you wish and instead skip the current game and roll for Exploration, but you do not get XP or promotions. After campaign effects still apply for participating in Dummy battles irrelevant to the type, such as XP, traumas and Deaths etc
